Riders of Victoria Tarot Cards

Utilizing work from a previous project in character and creature design I created a set of tarot cards. These cards have their own set of lore and a story they’re based around which connects to my previous work.

This project was created around the idea of gothic Victorian London dragon riders. It follows the protaganist, Aster, who is a part of the talonkin class who is fighting the social hierarchy to gain recognition. He attempts to become the next captain for the Royal Army and loses to a pureblood, Silas, who turns out to also be the Prince. Aster discovers that in the world of Victoria there is no longer a balance between the bond in a dragon and rider. Most riders have lost the meaning of a true bond. This angers Aster and he decides to take action to stop this corruption before it’s too late.

Tarot Booklet

Along with my cards I created a booklet with the meanings and lore behind each card. Each card has it’s meaning when pulled in a reading and has a different meaning when pulled in reverse. I used this book to go into more depth with backstories and personalities than the illustration exhibits.
